Kingdom of the Wicked – Kerri Maniscalco ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A deliciously dark story which begs you to give in to your desires, exact vengeance and take a walk on the dark side.

Two sisters. One brutal murder. A quest for vengeance that will unleash Hell itself . . .

Emilia and her twin sister Vittoria are streghe – witches who live secretly among humans, avoiding notice and persecution. One night, Vittoria misses dinner service at the family’s renowned Sicilian restaurant. Emilia soon finds the body of her beloved twin . . . desecrated beyond belief. Devastated, Emilia sets out to find her sister’s killer and to seek vengeance at any cost-even if it means using dark magic that’s been long forbidden.

Then Emilia meets Wrath, one of the Wicked-princes of Hell she has been warned against in tales since she was a child. Wrath claims to be on Emilia’s side, tasked by his master with solving the series of women’s murders on the island. But when it comes to the Wicked, nothing is as it seems . . .

I think this is the first book in a little while that I absolutely devoured.
Twins Emilia and Vittoria are part of a family of Witches living in secrecy in Palermo. Their Nonna always warned them about the Malvagi/ The Wicked and to avoid any encounters with them at all costs. These Princes of Hell are not to be trifled with.

Vittoria is brutally murdered and Emilia’s sole focus becomes seeking vengeance for her beloved sisters murder. Little does she know quite how many secrets Vittoria was keeping from her as Emilia delves into the forbidden dark side of her magic, using spells that are considered dangerous and allying herself with her enemy.

Emilia certainly is a feisty character, initially she seemed the more sensible twin with her love of cooking and my god does this book make you crave beautiful Italian food! Over the course of the book you follow Emilia on her quest and you can almost feel the change in her as each trail she faces, marks her.

The story ramps up pretty much after Emilia discovers the secrets her sister has been keeping and when she of course, summons a demon.

Emilia summoning Wrath, one of the seven princes of hell is a pivotal turning point for her. Wrath is EXACTLY who her Nonna warned her about, tall, brooding and handsome, Emilia can barely keep her eyes off him. I am a firm fan of Wrath. I think there’s more to him than meets the eye and he’s keeping his cards close to his chest. Emilia and Wrath are beautiful together, the little remarks and small gestures are forming a beautiful partnership.

Maniscalco has crafted a deliciously dark story which begs you to give in to your desires, exact vengeance and take a walk on the dark side. It’s gripping and filled with suspense and THE ENDING!, oh my. That promises some amazing things to come for book 2.

If you’re looking for a spooky, thrilling and devilish book to read, you can’t go wrong with this.

Massive thank you to Hodder & Stoughton for the advanced copy! I loved it!
